With a background in education, Alasdair has direct experience of working within the drug and alcohol field for over ten years. After holding a number of management posts within the voluntary and statutory sectors, he set up his independent training and consultancy in 1997. A distinctive feature of his work within the drug and alcohol fields has been the breadth and quality of what he provides. With an in-depth understanding of the sectors and working to clearly agreed objectives, he has completed successful projects ranging from team building with voluntary alcohol projects through to providing consultancy to Probation Services on their drug & alcohol strategies. Alasdair specialises in areas where there is a requirement for multi-disciplinary provision which has given him a practical insight into the complexities of seamless provision of drug/alcohol services across health, social services and criminal justice arenas. His most recent projects involved conducting an extensive audit of training/development provision within the Mental Health service providers as well as a multi-disciplinary team building initiative for a Drug Treatment and Testing Order team.
Alasdair Cant has extensive understanding of a range of competency standard frameworks that relate to the drug/alcohol field. He is a qualified assessor and is currently completing a twelve unit level 4 NVQ in Human Resource Development.
