Nicola worked for the first half of her career as a nurse, midwife and health visitor, and the second as a facilitator, mentor and trainer, with particular experience in the NHS. Having taken a first degree in Psychology and Communication Science, Nicola qualified in nursing (training at St. Mary's Hospital, London) and subsequently worked in the Diabetic ward at St. Mary's Hospital and later in the Coronary Care Unit at the Royal Free Hospital. Training and practicing midwifery at Queen Charlotte's Hospital, London was followed by health visiting training at the University of Bristol. She practiced health visiting for five years in Somerset and Dorset. A change of direction led to diplomas in Assertiveness Training and Equal Opportunities Training. She is a member of CIPD, United Kingdom College of Life Coaching and the British Networking Institute.
She formed her own company, Nicola Player Training, in 1994 as a direct response to the demand for her expertise as a developer and facilitator of communication. She works with individuals and groups with equal ease and designs bespoke solutions-orientated processes.
Her clients include Taunton & Somerset NHS Trust, GP surgeries in the South West of England, Hospiscare in Devon, Nursing Homes, IT consultants, South Somerset District Council, South Somerset Homes, Solicitors and the Arts and Humanities Research Board. She facilitated the network of communication of the Mendip Primary Care Group (now Trust).
Nicola is currently providing technical consultancy within The Management Standards Consultancy’s project developing a competency framework for Renal Healthcare.
