Rekha has over twenty years experience researching work-based learning and assessment systems, managing projects and organising events. She has researched the needs of professionals for developing their management skills in partnership with a number of professional bodies and managed the Management Charter Initiative's (MCI) competence-based continuing professional development programme.
She has organised many events with speakers including British and foreign members of parliament, chief executives and senior members of staff from public, voluntary and private sector. At one of her conferences, Managing Diversity, Paul Boateng MP was the keynote speaker addressing topics like identifying business benefits, racial and gender equality, cultural differences and ageism.
Rekha has been committed to lifelong learning for over ten years since she joined the Institution of Civil Engineers developing the chartered route for civil engineers with on-the-job experience and developing the continuing professional development scheme. She was a key worker in the development of Management Standards organising research questionnaires, workshops and focus groups. She has also managed projects sponsored by the Department for Education and Employment.
She has recently been working with social entrepreneurs to develop business skills and set up projects in the community e.g. The Immune Trust which helps users of drugs and alcoholic substances. She is a on the Board of Directors of Hillingdon Carers, a founding member of U Can Ask Angels (a voluntary organisation being set up to meet the special education needs of disabled children) and manages volunteers with a local homeless shelter. She holds a degree in Business and Public Administration, Administration NVQ Level 4 and is a member of the Institute of Directors.
Rekha is currently working with The Management Standards Consultancy as a consultant for the Voluntary Sector National Training Organisation's (VSNTO) project to develop National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the recruitment and management of volunteers and for two Skills for Heath projects: developing a competency framework for coronary heart disease and linking the Drugs and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS) to training, accreditation and quality systems.
