Trevor Boutall, Principal Consultant of The Management Standards Consultancy, is helping the Home Office domestic violence policy advisers to identify the performance standards those working in this area need to meet, whether they are working in the statutory sector, voluntary organisations or private businesses.
The first stage of the process is the development of a Functional Map showing all the activities that must be carried out to stop domestic violence, ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of victims, and hold perpetrators to account.
Once this has been agreed by all stakeholders, The Management Standards Consultancy will identify existing units of National Occupational Standards that are relevant, and advise where specific standards need to be developed to reflect the requirements of working in this area. Initial work has now taken place on identifying relevant standards and the possible gaps which are shown in the Gap Analysis.
