Management and Leadership Standards

As a member of the Review 2002 Consortium, The Management Standards Consultancy took a leading role in Stage 1 of the Review of Management Standards and NVQs/SVQs.

Stage 1 was in four phases

  1. Development of the Occupational Map of Management and Leadership
  2. Comparing the Management Standards against International Benchmarks
  3. Reviewing the Management Standards and NVQs/SVQs
  4. Developing the Functional Map of Management and Leadership
The Management Standards Consultancy led on the International Benchmarking and Functional Mapping phases and produced these reports

Stage 2 of the Review began in April 2003 and The Management Standards Consultancy was appointed to develop new units of National Occupational Standards for the key area of Managing Self and Personal Skills. In November 2003, The Management Standards Consultancy delivered draft Units for Self Management and also a set of Generic Behaviours for Leadership and Management.

As part of the continuous development of the Management and Leadership Standards, during 2006-7 The Management Standards Consultancy developed nine further units covering identified gaps in the suite. Further details can be found in the Annual Activity Report 2006-7 published by the Management Standards Centre in association with Skills Active.

The Management Standards Consultancy is continuing its successful collaboration with the Management Standards Centre with a contract to develop new standards to further enhance the suite during 2007-8.
