A Competence Framework for Renal Healthcare

The Management Standards Consultancy has helped Skills for Health to develop a National Workforce Competence Framework for Renal Healthcare.

The framework describes the competences required for delivering services for people with or at risk of developing renal conditions.

Phase 1 of the project, carried out in 2003 covered dialysis, preparation of living donors and management of progressive irreversible disease.

Phase 2, which began in April 2004, focused on the competences required for renal transplant.

The complete framework, together with a comprehensive CD-ROM, posters and leaflets was launched at the National Reasearch Kidney Fund on 11 October, 2005.

Full details and copies of the National Workforce Competence Framework for Renal Healthcare can be obtained from Skills for Health.
