In preparation for the election campaign which was to give them victory over the Conservative Government, The Labour Party commissioned a special edition of The Good Manager’s Guide for distribution to paid and unpaid party managers through the UK.
At the time Tom Sawyer, General Secretary of The Labour Party said, “The Labour Party is committed to starting a skills revolution and to lifelong learning for all. We recognise that only by developing the skills and talents of the individuals working within our organisation at John Smith House and around the country can we secure our effectiveness as a political party. As part of our commitment to the skills revolution, Labour has signed up to the Investors in People programme."
"This manager’s guide of practical checklists is part of our commitment to developing the skills and expertise of our managers."
"We believe that good managers are vital to the training and development of all our staff and the effectiveness of our organisation."
