 | Following the development of National Occupational Standards, we are often invited to develop qualifications frameworks against which practitioners can be assessed to see if the are competent and have the necessary knowledge, skills and personal qualities to be able to perform in the variety of situations they may face. The development of qualifications follows a well-defined process.
- Qualifications Framework drafting - drawing on the work in the Occupational Map and our experience of the sector from developing the standards, we work with awarding bodies to draft qualifications, indicating which units of the standards should be included (either as mandatory or optional) for qualifications at different levels.
- Assessment Strategy drafting - again working with awarding bodies, we draft an assessment strategy describing what must be assessed, the range of methods that may be used for assessment and who may undertake the assessment.
- Qualifications Framework and Assessment Strategy testing - we consult widely with prospective employers, candidates, assessors, training providers and awarding bodies on the draft qualifications frameworks and assessment strategy to check whether they meet the needs of employers and candidates and whether they provide an equitable framework against which any competent practitioner can demonstrate his or her competence.
- Qualifications Accreditation - once the qualifications framework and assessment strategy have been revised in the light of feedback, we support the sector bodies and awarding bodies in submitting them to the Education Act Regulatory Bodies for accreditation as part of the National Qualifications Framework.
