This course is about learning to shoot fast and accurately at realistic speeds…..the speeds that actually need to happen when the target isn’t standing still indefinitely.

The techniques of what it takes to shoot 4,5 or even 6 shots per second ACCURATELY will be discussed in great detail and the student will have a better understanding of what that actually takes to accomplish.

It is designed around the ultimate and equal balance of accuracy and speed that is applicable just as much to LE/Military training as it is to practical shooting competition.

If you carry/use a handgun in any way, shape or form and you flat out want to be a better more realistic shooter come take this class taught by a World Champion/ Former Police-SWAT Officer and you will benefit.

Shooting a handgun can be fun, but it’s also difficult. If you’ve found yourself being aggravated because of inconsistencies, or have struggled to figure out ways to improve, then this workshop may be something that could help.

This workshop is set up for a series of six sessions on consecutive Thursday nights, starting on the last Thursday in April (Apr. 26) and  running through the last Thursday in May (May 30). We will be primarily in the center pistol bay, but will move indoors if weather is a problem.

The sessions will last approximately two hours each. There will be discussion periods along with live fire sessions. Each night we will work on specific skills and you will have the rest of the week to review and practice those skills.

    Topics covered will include:

    • Safety
    • Grip
    • Sight alignment
    • Trigger control
    • Recoil control
    • Holster skills
    • Two handed shooting
    • One-handed shooting
    • Drawling from concealment
    • Ready positions
    • Reloading your handgun
    • Malfunctions
    • Manipulations
    • Multiple targets
    • Ammo selection
    • Gear selection
    • Mounted pistol optics
    • Live fire practice drills
    • Dry fire, practice drills
    • Questions and answers
    • And much more

    Gear requirements:

Eye protection, hearing protection (electronic recommended), a center fire handgun, a quality holster (no serpa style or fabric holster), quality belt, snacks and drinks are welcomed, and 50 to 100 rounds of ammo each session.

All of the shooting skills will be demonstrated and there will be discussion periods afterwards. The goal for this workshop is to give each participant more information and more confidence when shooting a handgun.

A lot of problems can be solved at 7 yards with your EDC concealed pistol.  Those same problems become much more difficult at 300 yards and beyond.  As owners of a modern magazine fed semi-auto tactical rifle like the AR15 or AK47, we have the opportunity to learn its full capabilities.  Together, we will explore and hone how to efficiently and effectively use field positions to engage targets at intermediate distances (using reduced size targets placed at 50-100 yards).  NOTE: This is not a physically demanding class.  However it is an active class that incorporates movement.

REQUIRED ITEMS for Dynamic Field Marksmanship - and some suggestions that will help you get the most out of your class:

    • Notebook and writing utensils! PLEASE take notes!
    • Reliable magazine fed, semi-auto rifle (like an AR15 or AK47), properly cleaned and lubricated - spare rifles may be a wise choice in the event of a major failure.
    • Rifle Sling - we strongly recommend a 2 point sling for this class. An excellent example is the Vickers VCAS sling.
    • pare Carbine Magazines - minimum 3, more is better
    • Carbine Magazine Carrier - belt pouch preferred and/or chest rig, plate carrier, etc. If need be, you can reload from a pants pocket.
    • Shooting mat, blanket, etc for prone shooting (optional)
    • 150 rounds MINIMUM rifle ammo
    • Eye and Ear protection
    • Billed hat, Shirt with a high collar or tight neck, and appropriate clothing for shooting outdoors in Ohio despite the weather
    • PLENTY of water, Gatorade, etc., hand sanitizer, snacks, sunscreen, and any other comfort items you may need
    • Lunch - We will not have time to leave and grab something.

Please keep all firearms and ammunition in your vehicle until directed to retrieve them.

You've learned to "crawl" and are comfortable operating your rifle safely.  Now it's time to master "walking" and "running" with it.  Join us for an introduction to movement with your tactical rifle.  Together, we will explore and hone fundamental skills for most efficiently maneuvering with your AR15, AK47, or similar magazine fed semi-auto long gun in real world environments.  NOTE: This is not a physically demanding class.  However it is an active class that incorporates movement.

REQUIRED ITEMS for Intro to Movement - and some suggestions that will help you get the most out of your class:

    • Notebook and writing utensils! PLEASE take notes!
    • Reliable Carbine and Handgun, properly cleaned and lubricated - spare firearms may be a wise choice in the event of a major failure.
    • Rifle Sling - we strongly recommend a 2 point sling for this class. An excellent example is the Vickers VCAS sling.
    • Handgun Holster - Outside the Waistband (OWB) holster preferred for this class. To be permitted for use, it must cover the handgun’s trigger guard, provide adequate retention, and allow you to reholster one-handed. Any holster that causes you to release retention devices with your trigger finger (e.g. Blackhawk Serpa) will not be permitted.
    • Spare Carbine Magazines - minimum 3, more is better
    • Carbine Magazine Carrier - belt pouch preferred and/or chest rig, plate carrier, etc. If need be, you can reload from a pants pocket.
    • 250 rounds MINIMUM carbine ammo
    • 50 rounds MINIMUM handgun ammo
    • Eye and Ear protection

    • PLENTY of water, Gatorade, etc, hand sanitizer, snacks, sunscreen, and any other comfort items you may need

I shoot best when I shoot often. MSC Pistol Practice is a free event for all MSC Members and families. Participants will pick from various pistol drills to tailor a practice session to meet their individual needs.

    • Why - MSC Pistol Practice is an event designed to improve accuracy and speed. In the book, Citizen’s Guide To Armed Defense, Kevin Davis presents eight bullet points outlining the responsibilities of the armed citizen. This event focuses on only one point, “be skilled in the drawing and accurate in our firing”. MSC Pistol Practice offers no instruction or training beyond our Safety Briefing and Course of Fire direction.
    • Who - These practice sessions are open for all MSC members and families. Each member will be the acting Range Officer for him/herself and their family members. The Event Director will place targets, record times and monitor the range for safety issues.
    • What - MSC Pistol Practice is a set of pistol drills with an estimated 50 shot round count. The goal is to measure accuracy and speed with accuracy preferred over speed, the timer only measures progress. Each shooter will receive a score sheet with recorded accuracy/time to track their individual progress from session to session.
    • When – A shooter can arrive between 10 AM -2 PM. The practice sessions will take place on the following Sundays:

    April 28,

    May 5, May26,

    July 14, July 28,

    August 11, August 25,

    September 8.

    •    Where - The North Bay

SAFETY - Due to the logistics of MSC Pistol Practice. ALL FIREARMS ARE CONSIDERED LOADED. The event will follow a COLD RANGE SAFETY POLICY. Firearms MUST be unloaded and holstered or in their case when not at the firing line.  Only when instructed to make ready can you remove from case and handle firearm. When finished shooting the drill, firearm must be unloaded and shown to be clear then returned to holster or case and RO will then call the RANGE SAFE.

.A safety table will be designated for shooter arrival, malfunctions, and firearm servicing.

Course of Fire - We will have a variety of preapproved drills categorized as advanced, intermediate and beginner. Each participant will choose their drills to create a practice session tailored to their needs.

Gear - If working from a holster, you will need a  holster, two magazines and spare magazine holder, and about 50 rounds of ammo.

Participants working from a ready position will only need firearm and case, one magazine, and ammo.
